This well maintained community is governed by the Burnt Store Isles Association. A Home Owners Association that is not mandatory but has a commitment to maintaining the integrity and appearance of the neighborhood to enhance the the quality of life.
Go for a walk in the mornings or at night and meet your neighbors and their pets. Dinner at the Twin Isles Country Club is always delicious. The Golf course is now open to the pubic and it is highly reputed. Twin Isles Country Club is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. One can see many birds by the lakes and if you are lucky, you could see an Eagle swoop down to pick up a fish to feed its young.
Burnt Store Isles is a part of Punta Gorda Isles, in Southwest Florida. Located about 3 hours from both Orlando to the North and Miami to the South. There is easy access to the interstate. Enjoy entertainment at the Performance Arts Center and an elegant dinner at any of the many downtown restaurants or Fisherman’s village. Art Galleries and local artists are happy to present their art.
Burnt Store Isles is the sister canal system to Punta Gorda Isles. It is located 5 miles south of Downtown Punta Gorda, and boasts 9 miles of saltwater canals.
A local legend says that Burnt Store got its name when the Caloosa Indians became angry and set fire to the trading post. Whether the abandoned store was burned by intention or mishap is not known for certain. Hence we have Burnt Store Isles, Burnt Store Road, Burnt Store Meadows, Burnt Store Village, Burnt Store Lakes and Burnt Store Marina.
As a community, the residents maintain their homes and are friendly. People often stop to say hello as you go by.
